There are a few fixes that you can use to fix the NAT type on the PS5. Some of the fixes are given below:

Fix 1: Manually Configure the PS5 Network Settings

If the problem is with the network settings on the console, you need to set up the correct network config. To do this, you can follow the steps given below:

  • Open the command prompt on your PC. Just press Windows + R to do this.
  • Inside the command prompt type this command: ipconfig/all

  • Note down the IP address, gateway, subnet mask, and DNS server on paper now.
  • Open your console and go to PS5 settings, select the network tab, and choose the Set Up Internet Connection option.
  • Choose the appropriate connection type: Wi-Fi or Ethernet cable.
  • Now, go to custom and enter the network info that you noted down from your PC.
  • Select Do Not Use as the proxy server and then wait until the connection updates.
  • You can now test the connection and see if it fixed now.

Fix 2:  Enable UPnP for your router

One of the most working fixes to the problem is the UPnP fix. UPnP stands for Universal Plug and Play and it is a network setting present in the router. UPnP allows the devices to discover each other. When you are on a router, the UPnP setting should be enabled.  This will help to improve the connection when you are playing a game and you can also party chat with teammates.

  • Just login to your router via the browser and enter the username and password.
  • Go to the Advanced Settings > Forwarding > UPnP. Now you can save your settings.
  • Reboot the router now.

  • Go to the PS5 console and then go to the Network Settings > Test Internet Connection. The connection should be fixed now.

Fix 3: Use Ethernet Cable

Wi-Fi is generally slower than Ethernet Cable. When you use an ethernet cable, there is zero lag in the connection and the speed you get is full. This is why NAT type failed error might not occur when you use a good quality ethernet cable. If you are using wi-fi, just disconnect it and then connect the console with an ethernet cable. You can now select the appropriate NAT type and fix the NAT type failed error.

Fix 4: Check with the ISP for network problems

Most of the time, the actual problem might be with the ISP so, you need to ask them for fixing the problem. You can ask them to revert the firewall settings to default and then get you connected to the internet.

Fix 5: Disable IPV6 on your router

The PlayStation 5 doesn’t have support for the IPv6 mode so, you will need tp get an IPv4 connection while connecting to the router. Most routers these days come with IPv6 enabled so, always check the router before connecting the console. You can enable the IPv4 from the router too. Just login to your router and search for the option that lets you select the IP version. Tick on the enable IPv4 option and save the changes.
