The Gamers: Hands of Fate movie in production!

Anyone that knows me well enough knows that not only do I play video games, but I also play table-top games. What they don’t know, however, is that I am a 14-year veteran of the legendary game, Dungeons & Dragons. But that’s a story for another time. Anyways, recently it was brought to my attention that a third installment in “The Gamers” series was in the process of being mad. Needless to say, I was overjoyed!

For those of you who don’t know, The Gamers was a low-budget independant film released in 2002. Now, it didn’t see DVD circulation at first, but it was shown at various gaming conventions. Due to the fact that it was so popular amongst RPG and D&D fans alike, the film gained cult status…something that is honestly very hard to do nowadays.

Following the first movie’s critical gain in popularity and success, a sequel titled “The Gamers: Dorkness Rising” made its debut in 2008. Thought not a direct sequel to the first one, the movie still featured the same concept from the original, but expanded a little more on the player’s themselves rather than JUST they characters they were portraying. On a personal note, I definitely related to the character Flynn the Fine(portrayed by the talented Scott C. Brown)as I spent my first year of playing D&D banging female NPCs, though I didn’t die nearly as many times as he did. Lol!

Back on track, the latest installment is currently in production and it is called The Gamers: Hands of Fate. Of course, this is currently a working title and it’s subject to change, but I sincerely hope it sticks because it sounds epic! The guys have started a Kickstarter page and they would like YOU to help make this next movie possible! By pledging a minimum of $1, you can officially back this project. Of course, there are different levels of pledging and each level you decide to pledge, gets you some very cool swag from a signed DVD/Blu-Ray to actually being an Executive Producer! The premise of the movie takes place 4 years after Dorkness Rising, with the players going to Gen Con Indy for 4 days of gaming! Needless to say, some shenanigans take place, but I guess you’ll have to see the movie to see them, now won’t you?

All characters from Dorkness Rising make a return, with Cass (Brian Lewis), Gary (Christian Doyle), Lodge (Nathan Rice), Joanna (Carol Roscoe), and Leo (Scott C. Brown). Jen Page will be returning as Luster and as a new character in the real world. Also, there will be some new characters introduced as well!

Koku Gamer is backing this film with sword and shield and we will continue to bring you news and updates on this project. The link to the movie’s Kickstarter page is below, so make sure you show some love to these guys and drop a pledge for what will turn out to be an awesome flick! Now with said, roll your D20 to see if you have what it takes to be a Gamer!
