Robert Bowling Resigns Infinity Ward/Activision

The creative strategist, Robert Bowling, announced to the world yesterday via Twitter the he was resigning from Infinity Ward/ Activision. Bowling has been the face of Infinity Ward since the departure of Jason West and Vince Zapella. Neither Bowling or Activision has given a public statement as to the reason for the split. Activision released this statement in reply to Bowling’s announcement: “ We sincerely thank Robert for his many years of service. He’s been a trusted and valued member of the Infinity Ward team. We wish him all the best on his decision to pursue future opportunities.”

Bowling’s departure will have little, if any affect on the billion dollar juggernaut franchise that is Call of Duty. Many will speculate for months to come on what Bowling’s next move will be. Personally I cannot find fault with him for moving on to seek new frontiers in gaming. Robert said in a more recent twitter feed: “ There’s far too many amazing things happening in our industry right now to be content with spending life on just 1.” With that being said I take solace in knowing that Bowling is focused on the future of the industry and that it can only bring improvement.
