Next Mass Effect Will Use Frostbite Engine

Mass Effect 3 may mark the end of Commander Shepards journey, but Bioware and Casey Hudson have made it completely clear that by no means is it the end of the series. Now we have the beginning details starting to emerge.

For one thing, Bioware Montreal studio director Yanick Roy stated on the Bioware Blog that his studio would be developing the next game. Bioware’s Edmonton office had previously developed the Mass Effect games, however the Montreal Studio has worked on the series making DLC and even Mass Effect 3s multiplayer mode.

We also now know that the next game will incorporate DICE’s frostbite engine. “There is really not much I can tell you about the game right now,” Roy says. “Except that it will be built with the amazing technology of Frostbite as its foundation, enhanced by many of the systems that the Dragon Age III team has already spent a lot of time building.”

Beyond the fact that the game is officially being developed by the Montreal studio don’t expect any more news for “quite a while” as Roy says.
