NDK 2015 AMV Contest Review

This year I had the pleasure of being able to attend the annual NDK AMV contest. I’ve seen a lot of AMV’s over the years and might I just say, wow.  273 videos were entered into this contest but only 35 made it to the finals, and those 35 blew me away.  All the videos were creative, thought out, and executed perfectly.
Every video was entered into one of 5 categories.  Action/adventure, Drama/romance, Comedy/Parody, Upbeat/Dance, and Category X. Each category has a winner as well as a best in show award by both judges and attendees, and a special award for video game footage, and best local.  All though only 9 awards were given I feel every finalist should have won.

The winner for best action (best use of movement and pace) went to Shin for their video “Vintage Misery”

Best drama (best use of emotion and feeling) went to Ookami for their video “Echo of Life”

Best Comedy (most funny and amusing) and audience best in show went to Nicolio1313 for their video “My Neighbor Figaro-Kun”

Best upbeat (best use of good feelings) went to Kisanzi for their video “Scrumtrulescent Smorgasborg”

The category X winner (best use of artist vision and complex style) went to DN@ for their video “F.Y.C”

The best use of video game footage went to lolligerjoj for the video “Oh Be A Fine Girl, Kiss Me

And the judge’s best in show went to Replay, Luna & Jazz for their video “Anime’s Got Talent

Best local went to Madscientist for their video “Beautiful Delusion”

Every video I got to watch was so well done and fit their category so well I feel this year everyone should won. I could see the time, patience, dedication and creativity that went into every video and I can’t wait to see what next year’s contest brings. Yaaaaaaaaaaay! Both the AMV staff and the editors (some are one in the same lol) really appreciate seeing people post about the contest!
It’s a lot of hard work and dedication but it all becomes worth it for that audience and viewer response. :3
