Mario Kart 7 Review

Get excited because your childhood is back and when I mean back I mean with Mario Kart 7. Many new characters and features have been added but you’ll read about them later, because right now all I have to say is that Mario Kart 7 is portable. But thats nothing new to you right? Well what if I told you that Mario Kart 7 was portable, and in 3D. Yes you heard Correctly Mario Kart is now in full 3D do to the fact that it came out for the 3DS. So now you get the joy of shooting turtle shells at your most hated mario characters while watching it pop out at you.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to fly on Mario Kart?
Well keep wishing because there is none of that to be found here. But they did add the gliding feature so say you get shot out of a cannon during a race you’ll get to glide around for a little bit before landing. The glider that you use on your game is even customizable. I for one like to use a daisy as my glider. No not the princess but an actual Daisy. Another interesting addition that they added onto this marvelous game is the change up’s you can do do your go kart. So say you want a little go kart but with GIGANTIC wheels, well you can. Or have a HUGE go kart with very little wheels. It looks pretty comical to me but you can do that if you prefer it.

Mario Kart 7 also has the online play feature so if you get tired of utterly destroying the poor computer because you’ve found out the hard way at how addicting Mario Kart 7 is like I did and your skill just cant be matched by a machine. You’re able to get online and play with other people that are just as obsessed with Mario Kart and can race against them. Good luck and have fun with that because I came up with my favorite quote from this game “there will always be somebody better then you no matter how great you think you are”.

The levels in Mario Kart 7 are quite expansive with many different cups and tracks such as the, Mushroom, Flower, Star and Special Cup while also bringing back your classic Shell, Banana, Leaf and Lightning cups. Mario Kart 7 really knows its diversity when it comes too tracks. Let me give an example. Toad Circuit, Daisy Hill, Cheep Cheep Lagoon, Shy Guy Bazaar, Wuhu Loop, Mario Circuit, Music Park, Rock Rock Mountain, Piranha Plant Slide, Wario Shipyard, Neo Bowser City, Maka Wuhu, DK Jungle, Rosalina’s Ice World, Bowser’s Castle and your notorious Rainbow Road. Those were just a few of the Mario Kart 7 tracks, there are many more that you’ll get to race on after you get Mario Kart.

There are many different modes in Mario Kart 7 like your usual racing mode. You’re able to do a 50CC races which is pretty easy, It would be wise for younger kids to play on this mode. Then there is always 100CC which is about normal difficulty. Still pretty easy but the computers do know how to mess you up 3 feet from the finish line on your last lap. Then you have your 150CC which is hard mode and is highly adviced for gifted and talented racers. Be warned that the computer knows how to destroy you early on and late on. Expect to not come in 1st place every time. There are several other modes such as a coin battle feature which allows you to ride around on a couple battle levels getting the enjoyment of blowing up the characters that you dont like and stealing there coins. Object of the game is to collect as many as you can then when the time runs out. Whoever has the most by end game wins. One of the other challenges is Mirror mode, a mode where you race on tracks that are flipped so that left and right are reversed. So you constantly have to remember that your controls are switched. Not just that but you’re also doing all of this on 150CC so, it’s kind of a pain.

Mario Kart 7 is a great game and can be played by all ages, big and small. I love the online feature so you can play with many different people if you get tired of the computers. I advice all of those people that are interested in the game to go and buy it because it is a fun must have. I give this game a solid 9 out of 10.
