Celler Door Review

So last night I came across a Flash game called Cellar Door. Cellar Door is a flash game developed by Progressive Games, that is a point-and-click horror game. The premise is simple, you have ten minutes to find ten marbles so the “ghost girl” will tell you her secret. Seems simple enough, right? The game starts with a rather creepy version of the children’s clapping game “CC come play with me” and a creepy woman crawling towards the screen. You start the game in a room with a crying ghost girl and you point and click your way around a dark house being paranoid about turning the wrong way and something appearing out of nowhere and scaring the hell out of you. I will be honest, I jumped quite a few times playing this game.

The control is easy: just click where you want to go. The problem I had with it is the angles of the environment. You would find your self turned around and it became rather confusing. It would have been nice if they added a map or some way to help you figure out where you were so you weren’t getting lost. The music was a nice touch even though The song “CC come play with me” repeating every minute was getting on my nerves. But it got the song stuck in my head and made me think about the game, which is what the developers wanted. Other then the way the environment is set up, my only complaint is that the time they give you to find all the marbles is just too little. When I realized there was a time limit, I felt rushed and it kind of took away from the atmosphere. All in all I think it was a good game and I look forward to seeing more from Progressive Games in the future.

Jumpscare fest or rather a creepy game with a nice ambient?
